First Aluminum Wine Bottle By US Winery

Flasq Aluminum Bottle

I’m surprised it took the Americans this long to come up with an aluminum wine package.

St. Helena, CA-based JT Wines just launched its wine brand in a shatterproof, quick-chilling aluminum bottle. Branded as FLASQ Wines, their 2009 Chardonnay and 2009 Merlot wines were launched in January in 375-mL resealable aluminum bottles.

The aluminum bottle supposedly can chill up to five times faster and stay cooler longer than a glass bottle. It has an inside liner that keeps the wine from coming in contact with the bottle and a wide-mouth opening allows the wine to “breathe”. My favorite feature is the screw-on cap that enables resealability.
